The Blue Spot

Matheus and Pedro Classical Duo_light

The Blue Spot is a piano and double bass duet, that brings together jazz and classical. The improvisation is a skill used by musicians since the baroque music, and now it is back in the performances of the duet.

The idea of the duet started when Matheus Prado did an audition for the Albert Cooper Charity. In that audition the duet played Brazilian “choros” interpreted as classical music. The panel liked it, and The Blue Spot saw the light.

In their repertoire you can find a vast variety from Mendelssohn to Egberto Gismonti. The improvisation sections during the performance bring a fresh air to each performance, making them unique every time.
